The Story of my Teardrop Candle
All of the beautiful designs we come across have roots in inspiration, which can come from anywhere, anything, and anyone. Many years ago I got to spend a little time at a marble carving camp in Italy. I had never fully appreciated the level of difficulty and craftmanship that goes into carving stone until I saw the time and effort required to transform a block of stone into a sculpture. Years later one my favorite designers and sister from another mister, Nanna Geller, created a small series of marble sculptures which elevated the medium for me again. They were amorphous yet feminine, like a pillow they implied a soft weightless feeling that created an aroused calm just by looking at them. Those sculptures forever changed the way my mind interpreted shapes.
When the time came to transform my accumulated beeswax into candles, I wanted to create a shape capable of imparting similar responses. A shape which might inspire a feeling or memory. That shape for me was a teardrop. A shape so simple, so delicate, and so strikingly imbued with memory.
This is my patent pending teardrop design. I hope it inspires your mind to wander down the path of memory, imagination, inspiration, and celebration.
